Independent Filmmaker, Yvonne Rainer

Yvonne Rainer, who studied dance with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham, has been a central figure in the most advanced dance activity since the early 1960s. Her first two feature films, Lives of the Performers (1972) and Film About A Woman Who... (1974), are highly intelligent and extremely beautiful uses of film to explore the interpersonal dynamics with which her performances also deal. Kristina Talking Pictures, her most recent film, is a must for all who seriously care about film, about art, about dance, and about the nature of existence in our times.
